As a high school basketball coach, I am able to witness and experience firsthand the positive Impact of CIS on kids and the importance of their presence and work in the school. Filling the gaps left by the school system and their home life is critical work that CIS is doing. As a board member, I have a heart for the staff of the frontlines, doing the hard work in the schools and have the heart for supporting them as much as possible with whatever platform and resources I can. Seeing how much heart these staffers pour into their work and their kids inspired me to want to do everything I can to partner with them on this journey.
I work as a Store manager with Starbucks, 10 years with the company, 5 years as a manager and HS girls basketball coach at North Central High School. Worked at Starbucks while earning my Master’s degree from Gonzaga in Sport and Athletic Administration and eventually went all in with my career at Starbucks shortly after graduation.
I’m a Father of three kids (William 10, Hannah 8, and Gwenyth 6), married to my wife Jenna 12 years and we have one dog named Hazel. Outside of family, work, and coaching, I love sports so always trying to attend as many local games as possible and almost always have a game on the TV at the house. I like to read, mostly boring books about leadership and whatnot. I like to golf when I can, but life pretty much revolves around the family.
I have an unhealthy obsession for dad jokes, so you can expect to hear me regurgitate jokes and puns often and I got a database of movie quotes, song lyrics, and sports trivia. Wish I could remember half the stuff from my masters degree, but at least I got my lyrics and quotes 😂
I have a passion and my personal purpose is to serve others and build relationships. Much of my personal and professional experiences, I attribute what I have been able to accomplish and where I’m going to my MINDSET. Growth mindset, neutral thinking, and establishing and living my core values which are guiding principles for me in my life. In addition to all of the business acumen and people leadership experiences I have, in mentorship, I would love to spend time talking about growth mindset and establishing/articulating core values and how establishing those guiding principles and values in your life can positively impact their work and their relationships. Additionally, nurturing the wellbeing and supporting the staff is a big passion of mine so if there’s ever anything that I can do to make their lives easier in the school, I would love to hear from them and partner up with them. (Just donated a bunch of cups for Cooper Elementary school for all of their after school programs as an example).
